Railway Rules: At this time, there is a huge crowd in trains to go home for Chhath Puja. Waiting tickets are also not available in many trains going to Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Those who have RAC tickets are relieved that they will get at least half the seats in the train, where they can complete their journey. So let us tell you that RAC tickets can go into waiting list and now strictness is being taken regarding traveling on waiting tickets. In such a situation, the dream of traveling on RAC may be shattered. It is natural for you to be shocked to hear this, but it is true. Indian Railways itself has given the reason for this. Let us know-

Most people travel during the festive season and summer holidays. On an average, 2.3 crore people travel by trains every day. This number increases three to four times during the festive season. For convenient travel, people make reservations 60 days in advance (earlier this time limit was 120 days). RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) ticket is given after booking a confirmed ticket. According to railway rules, if a passenger cancels the ticket, your RAC ticket will be confirmed in its place. Otherwise you will have to travel on a half side lower seat. Whereas you cannot travel on waiting ticket.

This will enable RAC to be converted into waiting list.

Generally RAC is confirmed, but during festival season or in some trains it is not confirmed. But sometimes there is a possibility of it going on the waiting list. According to the Railways, if any coach of the train is found unfit at the last moment before the journey, then it is removed for security reasons. After this two situations occur. Extra coach is not available or if available it is ICF of LHB. The number of seats is less in this.

The entire RAC of the train may be affected

If the entire coach is not available, the initial RAC is adjusted against the seats canceled before chart preparation and the remaining RAC of the entire train is waitlisted. If an ICF coach is available then the RAC of that coach can be put in the waiting list. Because in ICF there are total 72 seats in sleeper and 64 seats in third AC. Whereas there are 80 seats in LHB sleeper and 72 seats in third AC. Due to the availability of the coach, it affects only that coach. At present Indian Railways is running about 7500 additional trains. Additional coaches have been installed in all these trains.

Understand the meaning of RAC

There is RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation). If someone cancels your ticket then your ticket will be confirmed. Till then you will have to travel only on half of the side lower seat. RAC seats are available for two people. If a passenger cancels his confirmed ticket, then the first passenger in RAC gets the confirmed seat. After this the remaining second passenger can travel on the full RSC seat.

There are 12 to 14 RACs in a coach.

RAC is given to 12 to 14 passengers in a coach. This number is for third AC and sleeper. It depends on the size of the coach. Because ICF is a small coach and LHB is a big coach. In this way 6 to 7 berths are for RAC.
