Questions raised regarding construction of police post in Sambhal

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi targeted the UP government over the police post being built near Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal. He posted on X on Saturday and raised questions on the priorities of the government.

Owaisi’s statement

Asaduddin Owaisi wrote:
“Go to any corner of the country, governments do not pay attention to opening schools and hospitals. But police posts and liquor vends are definitely built. The government doesn’t have money for anything else, but it definitely has money for these two. Data says that government facilities are least available in Muslim areas.”

Bhoomi pujan of police post in Sambhal

Bhoomi pujan was performed on Saturday for the construction of a police post near Shahi Jama Masjid located in Kot East locality of Sambhal police station area.

  • The administration says that this police post is being established for security reasons after the Sambhal violence.
  • During Bhoomi Pujan, special puja was also performed to avoid Vaastu defects.
  • Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrish Chandra said that this post is being built on the demand of local residents and adequate police force will be deployed here.

Background of Sambhaal Violence

Violence broke out in Sambhal’s Jama Masjid on November 24 during a court-ordered survey.

  • 4 people died in this violence.
  • According to SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi, so far 50 people have been arrested in this case.
  • Police have registered 7 cases in the violence case, in which 6 named and 2,750 unidentified accused have been included.

Series of arrests continue

On Friday, two more accused named Rihan and Adnan were arrested in connection with the Sambhal violence.

  • SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi said that after completing the legal process, both have been sent to jail.
  • Police are continuing the investigation to identify other accused of violence.

Owaisi’s allegation: Muslim areas are being deprived of facilities

Regarding the construction of police post, Asaduddin Owaisi said that instead of providing basic facilities in Muslim dominated areas, governments take repressive steps.
“Instead of building schools and hospitals in Muslim areas, governments monitor them by building police posts. “This is policy bias and discrimination.”
