Know who is PV Sindhu
PV Sindhu was born on 5 July 1995 in Hyderabad in an athlete family. Her parents were volleyball players. Her sister was a national level handball player. Won Silver Medal in Rio Olympics 2016
Everyone expected a medal from badminton superstar Saina Nehwal in Rio Olympics 2016. But she was eliminated in the group stage after losing to Ukraine's Maria Ulitina. Not everyone expects to win a medal in badminton. But then 21-year-old PV Sindhu emerged as a star. She won her first match immediately by defeating Laura Sarosi 21-8, 21-9. Even after this, her winning streak did not stop and she lost in the final itself.
First Indian female player to reach the final
PV Sindhu defeated Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 21-15 in the quarter-finals. After this, she faced Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals. Her strong performance was seen in the semi-finals. She won 21-19, 21-10 in straight sets and created history by reaching the final. But she lost to Carolina Marin in the final. She became the first Indian woman player to win a silver medal in badminton at the Olympics.
Won bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics
After this, she had to face defeat in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. Even after this, Sindhu did not give up hope of a medal and won the bronze medal by defeating China's He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze medal match. She became the first Indian female athlete to win two medals in Olympic history.
