Moscow, 26 October (HS). Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday appointed Lieutenant Colonel Artem Zoga to Russia's National Security Council. Lieutenant Colonel Artyom is currently the Kremlin's envoy to the Urals Federal District. The military officer, who was posted in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, rose to fame last year by publicly urging Putin to run again in the 2025 elections.
President Putin appointed Ukraine war veteran Artyom as his envoy to the Urals Federal District earlier this month, the Moscow Times reported. It is extremely important for Russia's vast military industrial sector.
Lieutenant Colonel Artyom will be among the 21 non-permanent members of Russia's National Security Council. The council consists of 13 permanent members. These include leaders of key security agencies and high-ranking legislative and executive officials. President Putin is the Chairman of the Security Council. Former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu serves as Secretary and former President Dmitry Medvedev as Deputy Secretary. Experts believe that Russia's National Security Council is an influential body. This body plays an important role in major policy changes. This council arbitrates inter-agency disputes.
