Jammu, July 16 (HS). Continuing its efforts for the establishment of a satellite Duggar channel, the Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association in association with local social activist and founder of Duggar Astitva Shubham Dogra organized a signature campaign at Trikuta Nagar to garner public support for the long pending demand of a dedicated satellite channel for Duggar.
The programme witnessed an overwhelming response from residents of various regions who expressed their support by signing the petition. The initiative was highly appreciated with many recognising the channel's potential to protect and promote the rich cultural heritage, art and languages of Duggar Pradesh.
Speaking on behalf of the association, spokesperson Janak Khajuria stressed the importance of a 24-hour satellite Duggar channel. He highlighted its potential as a medium of communication, entertainment and education, particularly focusing on the cultural heritage of the region. Khajuria pointed out that there are dedicated channels for languages listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution while Dogri is conspicuously absent. He urged the government to remedy this neglect, noting that Dogri is also spoken in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and even in parts of Pakistan. Khajuria said a satellite Duggar channel will not only preserve our cultural heritage but also promote tourist destinations of Jammu region across the world, thereby generating employment.
