Chandigarh, 14 December (HS). The hand grenade attack on Asar police post of SBS Nagar district has been exposed. Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar and SBS Nagar police teams have arrested three operatives, including the mastermind of terrorist module Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), in a joint operation in the grenade attack.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday that the arrested accused have been identified as Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah resident of Jagotia and Harjot Singh alias Jot resident of Dugla Mohalla, Rahon. He said that police teams have recovered two weapons – a country-made pistol and a revolver – along with six live cartridges from their possession.
This success has been achieved within about two weeks of the hand grenade attack carried out by some persons on the police station Asar of Kathgarh police station on December 2 this year. A case in this regard was registered in Kathgarh police station last December.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the arrested criminals are members of the KZF module run by handlers based in Germany, United Kingdom (UK) and other countries and were tasked to target police entities and minority leaders in Punjab and Haryana. Was.
He informed that this module has received funding of at least Rs 4.5 lakh in the last six months.
The DGP said preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons had committed suicide at G.T. Jalandhar on November 28. A hand grenade was obtained from a Dead Letter Box (D.L.B.) located at Road and S.B.S. on 2nd December. Police post Asar located in the city was targeted.
It is noteworthy that DLB is a secret place which is used to exchange information or goods between two people without meeting in person.
Giving information about this operation, AIG CI Jalandhar Navjot Singh Mahal said that in the operation conducted on the basis of intelligence and personal information, the team of CI Jalandhar arrested S.B.S. SBS in collaboration with city police. A special naka was set up near the railway crossing of Nagar City and the said criminals were arrested when they were coming towards Nawanshahr bus stand on their Splendor motorcycle. He said that the police teams have also confiscated his motorcycle.
He said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other operatives of this terrorist module.
