Chandigarh/Amritsar: During the ongoing operation against terrorism, State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar has arrested Prabhpreet Singh Sidhu, a German-based operative of terrorist recruitment, funding and support module, from IGI Airport in Delhi. This information was given by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here today.
It is noteworthy that in the year 2020, SSOC Amritsar had received a secret information that KJDF terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura was planning to target some prominent personalities in Punjab and to accomplish this task he had transferred arms and financial resources to his India based terrorist. Resources were made available. Colleagues provided assistance. Taking prompt action, Punjab Police exposed this module by arresting four activists and recovered weapons, bullets and coins from their possession. In this regard, a case has been registered under FIR No. 18 at Police Station State Special Operation Cell, Amritsar under sections 13, 17, 18, 18-B and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and section 25 of the Arms Act. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that they were working on the instructions of wanted terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura and his close associate Prabhpreet Singh. He said that the arrested accused have also revealed that they were planning to target prominent personalities.
He said that Prabhpreet was living in Germany, hence after his name cropped up in this case, Punjab Police had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him through Bureau of Immigration, New Delhi to arrest him.
The DGP said that on Wednesday the immigration officials of IGI Airport Delhi informed us about the custody of Prabhpreet Singh. After this the team of SSOC Amritsar reached Delhi and arrested the accused.
Giving more information in this regard, AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said that preliminary investigation has revealed that accused Prabhpreet had gone to Poland on a valid visa in 2017 and went to Germany by road in 2020 and applied for permanent residence in Germany. Was for political asylum.
The AIG said that during his stay in Germany, the accused came in contact with Belgium-based KZF terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura and got involved in anti-national activities. The AIG said the accused used to arrange money and weapons for his Indian partner to carry out murders and other criminal activities. He said that further investigation is being conducted to expose the entire network of Prabhpreet and the module for which he is working.
