Punjab News: The Punjab-Haryana High Court has heard the petition filed by Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal and his associates challenging the implementation of the National Security Act (NSA), its extension and extension of the period of detention and ordered to submit the complete record in this regard. Also asked the central government what is the basis for confirming the NSA.
Amritpal's associates Sarabjit Singh Kalsi, Gurmeet Gill, Pappalpreet Singh and others have said in their petition that the action against them, including imposition of NSA, is unconstitutional, against the law and has been taken due to political differences which is notorious. No such case has been made out against the petitioner, due to which preventive detention can be ordered.
The petition states that not only has the Preventive Detention Act been imposed on him for more than a year, but he has also been deprived of his liberty in an unusual and cruel manner by keeping him in custody away from Punjab. The Punjab government has responded to Amritpal's petition that he was in touch with separatists even while in custody. Amritpal's custody is very important for the security of the state.
The High Court is hearing the petitions of Amritpal and his associates together. In such a situation, the High Court has sought the complete record from the Punjab government regarding the imposition of NSA on all these petitions. Along with this, the Center has also been asked to give the basis for its confirmation. Now Punjab and the Central Government will have to give information in this regard to the High Court by October 3.
