Punjab News: Punjab government's zero tolerance policy against corruption, Patwari arrested for taking bribe

Punjab News: The policy of the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab against corruption is very clear. Bhagwant Mann's government is adopting a policy of zero tolerance against corruption. This is the reason why the state government has given clear instructions to all departments in this regard. Despite this, strict action is being taken against any officer or employee involved in corruption.

In this connection, Punjab Vigilance Bureau is running a campaign against corruption in the state. Kewal Singh, resident of village Kandiale in Gurdaspur district, who is posted as Revenue Patwari in Harpura, has been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on charges of taking bribe.

The official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the case against the accused had come on the Chief Minister's anti-corruption action line. Jeevanjot Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur, had filed an online complaint against him.

The complainant has alleged in his complaint that the Patwari is demanding illegal bribe to make amendments in the revenue records regarding the ownership of his land. The prosecutor also recorded the demand made by the Patwari while asking for bribe and handed over the video to the surveillance bureau as evidence. The complaint in this regard has been investigated by VB Range Amritsar and the allegations have been found to be true and correct.

After which, on the basis of this report, a case has been registered against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station Amritsar Range and he has been arrested in this case. At present, further investigation is being done in this matter.
