Punjab by-election postponed: Yesterday the Election Commission announced assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. But recently 4 by-elections in Punjab were postponed. Due to which the Punjab government has breathed a sigh of relief.
Earlier it was expected that the dates for the by-elections in Punjab would be announced along with the dates for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, but this did not happen. On the other hand, the Punjab government had also transferred many senior officers in Punjab before the press conference of the Election Commission.
Due to the fear of announcement of elections in Punjab, a series of transfers is going on. The government has hurriedly transferred 5 IAS and 20 PCS officers. Deputy Commissioners of four districts including Mansa, Moga, Gurdaspur and Sri Muktsar Sahib have also been transferred. Meanwhile, a major reshuffle has also been done in the Punjab Police.
A large number of ASP and DSP rank officers including 9 SPs have been transferred. Transfers have been made in the health department. Civil surgeons of 12 districts have been appointed. Along with this, 3 deputy directors have been appointed and 73 senior medical officers have also been transferred.
