Gramin Rozgar Sevak: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday arrested Gramin Rozgar Sevak Gurpreet Singh of Magnerga Yojana from village Marad, district Faridkot red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
An official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said the arrest was made following a complaint by Shinder Singh, a resident of Marad village in Faridkot district, who provided labour under the scheme.
He said that the complainant has alleged in the Vigilance Bureau that the said accused had demanded Rs 5,000 from the said labour contractor in exchange for providing daily work under the Magnerga scheme. The complainant had recorded the conversation with the said accused while demanding the bribe amount and submitted it to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.
The spokesperson said that after preliminary investigation into the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepur Range laid a trap during which accused Gurpreet Singh was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Police Station of Ferozepur Range. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow and further investigation of the case is going on.
