Punjab FC retains five Indian players ahead of the upcoming season

Mohali, July 16 (HS). Punjab FC today announced the retention of five Indian players ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 season. Young midfielders Ashish Pradhan, Ricky Shabong, Mangalenthang Kipgen, experienced defender Suresh Meitei and goalkeeper Ravi Kumar have extended their tenure at the club by signing multi-year contracts. They were key players for the club last season and the club has retained its faith in these players.

Ravi and Ashish have extended their contracts till May 2026, while Suresh and Ricky have signed two-year contracts till May 2027. The club has also extended Kipgen's contract till May 2028.

Ravi played 16 matches in the last ISL season and made 47 saves, keeping three clean sheets. Centre back Suresh Meitei played a vital role in the team's defensive performance and has made 14 appearances for the team and assisted once. Ashish Pradhan, Ricky Shabong and Mangalenthang Kipgen have made 17, 10 and four appearances for the team respectively, adding strength and creativity to the middle of the ground.

Speaking about the contract extension, Punjab FC Technical Director, Nikolaos Topoliatis said, “All five players were important to our plans and they will be important for us again in the upcoming season. They are young players who bring energy both on the field and in the dressing room. I am sure they will give their best for our successful campaign in the upcoming season.”
