Hyderabad, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). Defending champions Puneri Paltan, led by captain Aslam Inamdar, registered their second consecutive win in the 11th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) by defeating three-time champions Patna Pirates. Puneri defeated Patna 40-25 in the 8th match of the season played at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Monday night. Patna had to face defeat in the very first match of the season.
Puneri scored 20 points in defense and 15 points in raids. Apart from Aslam (9 points), Mohit Goyat (8 points), defender Aman (6 points) and Gaurav Khatri (6) also performed well for Paltan. Apart from Devank (6 points) only Ankit (6 points) and Ayaan (5 points) could score points for Patna.
Defending champions Puneri Paltan made a great start to the match and took a 4-0 lead within the first three minutes. But three-time champion Patna also made a great start by scoring points with a super tackle. Pirates tackled Mohit Goyat in a do or die match to level the score at 4-4.
Puneri team then took the lead by 7-5 in the first 10 minutes of the game on the basis of captain Aslam Inamdar's super raid. Within the first 10 minutes of the first half, Aslam scored three points and Aman scored two points in defence.
The defending champions then all out Patna for the first time in the match in the 13th minute and took the score to 13-6. Patna team was able to score points only in defense and Shubham Shinde's team was lagging behind in raiding. Puneri Paltan took continuous points from here and took their score to 16-8 by the 15th minute. Apart from defense and raiding, Aslam's team was also continuously scoring points through bonuses.
On the other hand, Puneri's defense was roaring continuously and due to this the team was ahead 18-8 by the 17th minute. Paltan's do or die specialist Mohit Goyat also strengthened the team's lead by scoring his third point in the match. In the very next minute, Aman also completed the fifth high-five of his PKL career.
Even before half time, Patna once again reached the verge of all out. But Pirates saved themselves from being all out by making a super tackle on Mohit. Despite this, Puneri Paltan kept the first half in their favor by 20-10. While Aman completed his high five within the first half itself, captain Aslam took seven points.
After the start of the second half, Patna was once again on the verge of all out, but Ayaan dismissed Aslam. The Pirates then announced their comeback by performing a super tackle. Despite Paryats' attempt to make a comeback, Puneri's team was ahead by 10 points till the 25th minute and its score was 23-13.
In the very next minute, Puneri all out Patna for the second time in the match and took the score to 27-15 with a lead of 12 points. Puneri team took a lead of 13 points by 31-18 till the 30th minute. Puneri Paltan continued their dominance in the last 10 minutes of the game and had a huge lead of 14 points by the 36th minute. With this, Puneri registered its second consecutive win of this season with the score of 39-25.
