The Bombay High Court has given a big verdict on Tuesday in the Pune Porsche car accident case. The court has ordered to release the accused juvenile from surveillance. While giving its verdict, the division bench said that the tragedy is serious but our hands are tied.
It is noteworthy that on May 19, two IT professionals were killed when their motorcycle was hit by an oncoming Porsche car in Kalyaninagar, Pune. A teenager was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The teenager was granted bail with very minor conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety by Justice Board member LN Danva.De. After this, there was outrage across the country over the matter and there was a demand to try the teenager as an adult. A bench of Justice Bharti Dangar and Justice Manjusha Deshpande of the High Court granted bail to the accused teenager, saying that the remand order of the JJB was illegal and passed without jurisdiction. The court said that the age of the accused was not considered amid the reaction and public outrage after the tragedy.
