Bhagalpur, 13 November (HS). The executive meeting of PUCL Bhagalpur unit was held at the Art Center on Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by PUCL Bhagalpur Unit President Prof. Manoj Kumar did it. In the meeting, the ongoing fast unto death of professors on the issue of promotion in Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University was discussed. Pro. Regarding this, Manoj Kumar said that promotion is the legal right of teachers and it is the responsibility of the university to complete the promotion process within the stipulated time. It is extremely unfortunate that teachers have to go on a fast unto death for a smooth university process.
There is no complication in the process of promotion from Assistant Professor to Senior Assistant Professor but the university administration is deliberately making it complicated. Delay in the promotion process breaks the morale of teachers. This disrupts the academic environment in the university. About 108 assistant professors are to be promoted and there are many who should have been promoted in 2021 itself. The university administration has taken applications four times so far and the last application was taken on 28 February 2024 but this process has not been completed.
There are many researchers in the university who are unable to find a guide. If promotion is done on time then this problem can also be eliminated. The university belongs to the society and hence the entire society is agitated and worried about this incident. PUCL will take action in this matter in future also. General Secretary of PUCL Bhagalpur unit Kishan Kaljayi, famous social worker of Bhagalpur Uday, Secretaries Gautam Kumar, Rahul, Divyanand, Jai Prakash Kumar, Amrina Seraj, Ujjwal Ghosh etc. were present in the meeting.
