Varanasi, 09 November (HS). Leaders of various student organizations jointly celebrated the birth anniversary of public poet Sudama Pandey 'Dhumil' in BHU Madhuvan on Saturday. During this, research student Umesh said that Dhumil is not a poet but 'Chetna'. After offering flowers on Dhumil's portrait, other student leaders said that Dhumil's poetry was called 'Akavita' by the scholars of Hindi literature. Dhumil was the architect of anti-establishment. He raised questions on socialism in democracy and equally strongly attacked the basic thinking of the people. Dhumil's work can neither be defined as prose nor poetry. During this time, the students also read his famous works Lohe Ka Swad Lohar Se Nahi Ask That Horse Whose Mouth Had a Bridle etc.
Students said that Janakavi, born in 1936 in Khewli village of Banaras, belonged to a very simple family. He got married at the early age of 13 and his father died untimely at the age of 15. The responsibility of supporting the family fell upon him at an early age. The poet worked in ITI and at the same time remained engaged in composing poetry.
