Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha has made a big statement in the Vinesh Phogat overweight case. She said that weight management is the responsibility of the player and his coach. It is not right to blame the medical team for this. Especially in sports like wrestling, weightlifting, boxing and judo. PT Usha further said that the hateful comments being made towards the IOA medical team, especially Dr. Pardiwala. They are not acceptable and should be condemned. She hoped that those accusing the IOA medical team will consider all the facts before reaching any conclusion.
Dr. Pardiwala, the Chief Medical Officer appointed by the IOA, and his team were primarily helping the athletes with their recovery and injury management during and after the event. This team was also formed to help those athletes who did not have their own team of nutritionists and physiotherapists.
