Provide basic facilities at polling station, give report daily: Election Officer

Dehradun, 24 February (HS). District Election Officer Sonika held a review meeting of the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at Rishiparna Auditorium Collectorate on Saturday and gave necessary instructions to the nodal officers and AROs. Said that all the officers should understand their responsibilities well and discharge their responsibilities following the guidelines of the Election Commission.

The District Election Officer directed Additional District Magistrate Administration Jaibharat Singh to give a daily report after seeing the arrangements at the polling station. Deputy District Magistrates/AROs should inspect the polling stations in their respective areas and ensure basic facilities. If work is to be done on any polling booth then send the proposal. Wherever there are deficiencies at polling stations, report by evening. Make a roadmap for the polling station. The polling station should be on the ground floor only. He instructed the e-District Manager to monitor all the Election Commission apps daily and keep him informed in the evening.

Officials should be active on information about election boycott, get it resolved

Deputy District Magistrate/ARO should monitor the updation and deletion of electoral rolls at their level by checking them online daily. Deletion should be mentioned along with the reason. In coordination with Nodal Postal Ballot Nodal PWS, get the data of disabled voters, 80 plus, checked. He directed that if there is any information regarding election boycott, it should be shown in time and resolved.

Door to door activity will increase, will motivate for voting

Chief Development Officer Jharna Kamthan was instructed to talk to the ARO at the booth with low voting percentage. Organize activities through self-help groups. Motivate people to vote by conducting door to door activities. Also do regular monitoring of these works.

Critically booths will be marked

He asked AROs to look at AMF and vulnerability mapping in their area. Critically check the booths and list them. If less than 10 percent voting has taken place at any booth, then send information to the election office describing the category of that booth as a critical booth as per the guidelines of the Commission.

Deploy such personnel in the election control room who can give quick response

He instructed the Nodal Officer Training to also take the test of ARO, Nodal, Sector and Nodal during the training. Those who fail, re-test them. The training of polling parties should be done in quality and practical manner. Said to take immediate cognizance and dispose of various complaints received in the election control room. Also, appoint such personnel in the election control room who have knowledge and can give quick response.
