Jammu, June 26 (HS). Mission Statehood on Wednesday protested against power cuts and water shortage in Jammu. The workers of the organization led by President Sunil Dimple protested at Amphala, Sarwal, Pakka Talab and Janipur High Court Road against the PDD and PHE departments due to long power cuts at night and severe shortage of drinking water in Jammu city.
Dimple said that patients, children, women and the elderly are facing a lot of trouble despite the hefty bills. She criticised the PDD for power cuts especially at night. She also highlighted the lack of regular water supply in Jammu, leaving residents without water for drinking, cooking or basic cleaning.
The protesters, including children, women and the elderly, demanded immediate action from the Jammu and Kashmir government to restore power and water supply within 24 hours. Dimple also called on Prime Minister Modi to return the Salal, Uri and Ratle power projects to Jammu and Kashmir and prioritise local power needs over supply to other states.
Dimple blamed privatisation of PDD and installation of smart meters for the increasing fluctuations in power. She urged to immediately start the construction work for supplying water to Jammu city from Chenab river at Akhnoor and demanded free electricity and water for the people.
