Kathmandu, July 11 (HS). A private airline company of Nepal has requested permission to fly directly from Kathmandu to some major cities of India. Nepal's second largest private company has made this request after adding new aircraft to its fleet.
Shree Air has applied to Nepal's Civil Aviation Ministry for permission to operate direct commercial flights from Kathmandu to some cities in India. Shree Air's Corporate Manager Anil Manandhar said that Shree Air has proposed to operate direct flights to Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata in India.
Manandhar said that due to the experience of flying safely in various cities of India as air ambulance and chartered flight, permission for regular commercial flight has now been sought. He said that if permission is granted soon, then all preparations have been completed to fly from August itself.
Apart from Shree Air, Nepal's largest private airline Buddha Air has sought permission for direct flights from Kathmandu to Lucknow, Dehradun and Patna in India, Janakpur to Ayodhya, Nepalganj to Lucknow. A private Indian company has sought permission for direct flights from Gangtok in Sikkim to Kathmandu, which is still pending.
