Srinagar, 4th December (Hindustan Reporter) Jammu and Kashmir Police has seized property worth Rs 3 crore of drug smugglers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Srinagar.
Srinagar Police on Wednesday said it has seized a three-storey residential house worth Rs 65 lakh in Banpora Batmaloo of Abdul Ahad Bhat, resident of Banpora Batmaloo, from where a huge quantity of narcotics were recovered, under Section 68 of the NDPS Act. A case has been registered in this regard at Shaheed Ganj police station.
In another case, a three-storey residential building with an estimated value of Rs 2.5 crore belonging to Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Natipora, has been seized under Section 68 (F) of the NDPS Act. He said that the accused person is also a drug smuggler who used to smuggle drugs among the youth of the area and a case has been registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Chanapora.
Police said that both the properties were acquired from illegal narcotics trade and as a result they have been seized with confirmation from the competent authority and Administrator, SAFEMA and NDPS. He said that immovable property acquired by accused persons through illegal means in compliance with Section 68E and 68F of the NDPS Act, seized or attached property shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise disposed of without the prior permission of the competent authority.
