Chandigarh, July 14 (HS). Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that programmes like Rahgiri not only awaken the feeling of unity and love among people, but are also effective in making the youth mentally and physically fit.
Chief Minister Saini was addressing the huge crowd gathered at the Rahgiri program organized near Herbal Park Ambala city on Sunday under Haryana Uday program. Earlier, the Chief Minister himself cycled near the Public Works Rest House Ambala city and gave the message of staying healthy to the people. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also gave the message of the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' being run by the Forest, Environment and Wildlife Department to increase the forest area and he himself also planted a sapling.
The Chief Minister said that I consider it my good fortune to be present on this holy land of Maa Amba, Ambala, for the Rahgiri program and congratulate everyone for being a part of the program. In the Rahgiri program, the youth have a good message of staying healthy and staying away from addiction by cycling.
The Chief Minister said that on World Environment Day on 5 June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Naam'.
It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister had started the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' from Karnal on July 13 and in this series, he planted a tree in Ambala today. This campaign will be run by all educational institutions, social-religious organizations and government departments during the monsoon.
Talking to journalists, the Chief Minister said that in the last 10 years, crores of saplings have been planted in the state and this year so far more than 1.5 crore saplings have been planted. Plants have also been planted in the fields of farmers through agro forestry. He has appealed to the people to make the celebration memorable by planting a tree on their child's birthday, anniversary and other social festivals. In the Rahgiri program, 23 activities related to various types of physical activities were organized, which included games like tug of war, kabaddi, football, weightlifting, Malkham, street plays and volleyball, which thrilled the people. On this occasion, Minister of State for Transport, Women and Child Development Aseem Goyal and the district administration also gave a grand welcome to the Chief Minister on his arrival here by presenting him a memento.
