The Hotel and Management Institute of Bundelkhand University organized a one-day national seminar on the topic of contemporary issues and challenges facing tourism and hospitality. On this occasion, students of various schools participated in many competitions organized on the subject of tourism.
While presiding over the program, Vice Chancellor Professor Mukesh Pandey said that tourism business plays an important role in making any nation economically strong. Currently, India has a 3 trillion economy, which is targeted to be made 5 trillion by 2027. By 2047, we will have to take it to 30 trillion to develop India. There are many possibilities in the tourism sector in India. The youth power needs to convert the challenges available in this sector into opportunities through employment and self-reliance.
While talking to school students, he said that you have an opportunity to set a goal for your life and work towards achieving it. The keynote speaker of the program, Professor Rajiv Sijaria of JNU University, said that during the time of disaster, a 67% decline has been seen in the tourism and hospitality sector. But it is also true that there is no dearth of officers for a successful business. Today, special opportunities are available in tourism in many areas such as cultural, religious, hospitality, culinary, adventure, wellness, etc. Regarding today's major challenges, he said that lack of talent, economic uncertainty, changing nature of consumers, climate change and changes in technology are important. These challenges can be faced with sustainable development, harmony with technology, and long-term planning.
Dr. Kaushal Tripathi, Dr. Ira Tiwari, Dr. Shilpa Mishra, Dr. Shipra Saxena, Dr. Shweta Pandey, Dr. Sudhir Dwivedi were the judges of the competitions. On this occasion, Prof. Aparna Raj, Prof. Sunil Kabiya, Prof. Prateek Agarwal, Prof. DK Bhatt, Prof. Poonam Puri along with many teachers of the department and university were present.
