Prayagraj, June 27 (HS). Professor Satyakam, Vice Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, has expressed deep grief over the demise of India's distinguished former Foreign Secretary and JNU's eminent Professor Muchkund Dubey. He said that as a highly talented and honest bureaucrat, he represented India in many places. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1957. He served as High Commissioner to Bangladesh and India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The Vice Chancellor said that his scholarly activities beyond diplomacy were wide-ranging. He obtained degrees in economics from Patna University, Oxford and New York Universities and a D.Litt from Calcutta University. After retirement from the Indian Foreign Service, he taught at JNU for eight years, which underlines his commitment to education and research.
Professor Satyakam said that Professor Dube's contributions spanned the global economy, international security, development cooperation and South Asian cooperation. He wrote numerous books and papers on these subjects which left a profound impact on policy and academia. His research interests covered a wide range of topics including the world economy, international trade and monetary system, international security and disarmament, development cooperation, particularly South Asian cooperation and social and economic development in India. He leaves behind a legacy of distinguished diplomatic service and scholarly contributions to economics and international relations.
Professor Satyakam expressed deep condolences on his demise while consoling his family members. He said that he had a deep relationship with the family of Muchkund Dubey. He felt this loss deeply. Prof. Dubey also had a deep family relationship with Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University family paid tribute by offering floral tributes for the peace of the departed soul.
