Prayagraj, 08 August (HS). Budget is an arithmetic presentation of the aspirations of the people of the nation. In which sometimes political issues become more important than economic issues. But the budget should be seen as a sequence of policies of the government which presents plans and policies to achieve its long-term objectives.

The above views were expressed on Thursday by the Chief Guest, Professor Atul Kumar Sharan, Finance Officer of Allahabad University, in a seminar on the topic “Budget 2024: Roadmap for Developed India!” under the lecture series at the Department of Economics, Ewing Christian College. He said that the budget is evaluated on the basis of how the expenditure made on various schemes and the results obtained from it affect the society qualitatively. Political parties also interpret the advantages and disadvantages of this budget on the basis of what are the possibilities of remaining in power or getting out of power.

Professor Sharan said that there are many such provisions in Budget 2024 which lay a strong foundation for developed India and carry forward the previous policies and programs of the government. But its effectiveness depends on how strongly and effectively the government implements them.

Professor Arun Moses, Principal of the college, who was presiding, said that the budget affects all of us and the government should emphasize on development of qualitative human resources especially by spending more on education and research, efforts towards which are visible in this budget.

Program coordinator and department head Dr. Umesh Pratap Singh said that many measures have been taken in the budget in terms of employment growth. But as per the government's vision, more jobs will be created in the private sector only. The need is that the youth coming out of educational institutions should be qualified and trained as per the market demand, for which less provisions have been made in the budget. Professor Singh said that two-thirds of the population is dependent on the agriculture sector and 45 percent of the population is getting employment. In this regard, this sector is not being given the required attention, especially the expenditure on research and development needed to be doubled. In view of climate change, it is necessary that resources be allocated towards this very seriously.

Professor Vivek Kumar Nigam said that the expectations of the public are very high and it is not possible for any government to fulfill all those expectations in a single budget. In such a situation, the government tries to pay a little attention to everything according to the expectations and sentiments of the public. But it tries to maintain the continuity of its policies and programs. This budget is very important in the sense that it has focused more on economic prosperity and employment expansion along with fiscal balance.

The program was conducted by Dr. Umesh Pratap Singh and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Vivek Kumar Nigam. Guest introduction was done by Tanya Krishna. Many teachers and teachers including Prof. Justin Masih, Prof. K.L. Pandey, Prof. Ashok Kumar Pathak, Prof. Ashutosh Shukla, Dr. Pradeep Priya, Dr. Prem Prakash Singh, Dr. Aruney Mishra, Dr. Padma Bhushan Pratap Singh and Dr. Gajraj of the college were present in the program.
