Patiala: Professor Arvind Ekalgadda is no longer the Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University. The tenure of Prof. Arvind is ending on April 25 and the Chancellor of the University and State Governor Banwari Lal Purohit have handed over the charge of the post of VC to the Secretary of the Higher Education Department without extending the tenure of VC Ekalagadda. It must be mentioned that on April 20, 2021, the Captain Amarinder Singh led government appointed Prof. Arvind Ekalagadda was appointed Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University. Ekalagadda took over as VC on 26 April. The tenure of the Vice Chancellor is three years. Ekalagadda's tenure on this post is ending on 25 April 2024.
Professor Arvind introduced a five-year integrated course in Punjabi University during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor. Their efforts led to an increase of nearly 10 percent in university enrollment during 2022-23. About 800 students were enrolled in six new five-year integrated courses, taking the total number to about 2,400. Achieved better NEC grades despite financial crisis.
