Priyanka Gandhi started her election innings by filing nomination as party candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and on this occasion she said, I have 35 years of experience in politics. Because in 1989, at the age of 17, I participated in the election campaign for the first time with my father Rajiv Gandhi.
Addressing a large gathering in Kalpetta before filing her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, Priyanka said, 'I joined the election campaign with father Rajiv Gandhi in 1989, since then I have worked with my mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi and other allies over 35 years.
Priyanka Gandhi's road show
The Congress general secretary also said, 'I feel honored to be nominated to represent the people of Wayanad.' Priyanka, who reached Wayanad with her mother and Congress Parliamentary Party president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday night, led a road show from the new bus stand in Kalpetta along with her brother and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra, along with senior Congress and IUML leaders, accompanied her in an open vehicle during the road show. Balloons in the colors of the Congress and its ally Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) were also installed on both sides of the nearly two-kilometre route of the road show.
