Avoided attending G-7 summit due to pilgrimage

According to a report, Crown Prince Salman sent a message to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to express gratitude for the invitation and said that he would not be able to attend the G7 due to overseeing the work of officials on the occasion of Hajj. Along with this, Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised the good relations between the two countries and wished for the successful organization of the G7.
Saudi prince apologizes
A statement issued by the Saudi government said, “Prince Salman has apologised to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as he will not be able to attend the summit due to Hajj programmes. Hajj is scheduled to begin on June 14 and more than one million pilgrims are expected to visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The G7 summit will be held in Italy from June 13 to June 15.

The G7 (Group of Seven) includes the US, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan. These seven countries are among the most powerful countries in the world in terms of military and economy. These 7 countries account for 10 percent of the world's population and 40 percent of the GDP. Out of the 7 countries included in the G7, 3 have veto power in the UN. In the G7 summit, all these countries discuss various issues of the world and prepare a framework to solve them.
India has participated in 10 out of 49 G7 summits
Countries and organisations such as India and the European Union are not part of the G7 but are participating as guests at Italy's invitation. Apart from India, Italy has also invited several international organisations including Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations to the G7 summit. India has participated in 10 of the 49 G7 summits held so far.
