Prime Minister 'Prachanda' out of power after 18 months after losing the trust vote in Nepali Parliament

Kathmandu, July 12 (HS). Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has lost the trust vote in the Parliament. With the loss of the trust vote, Prachanda has been out of power after 18 months. The President is taking legal advice and a new government is expected to be formed today.

Prime Minister Prachanda today put forward a motion in the House of Representatives to seek his confidence. Only 63 MPs voted in favor of the confidence vote, while 194 MPs voted against the confidence vote. With the defeat in the confidence vote, Prachanda has been out of power after 18 months under the constitutional provisions. During the confidence vote, MPs of the Maoists, National Independent Party and Unified Samajwadi Party voted in his favor. MPs of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, National Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janmat Party, Democratic Socialist Party, Civil Unity Party voted against it.

A total of 258 MPs were present in the House during the division of votes. One MP of Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party present in the House kept himself away from the voting process. Rashtriya Janamorcha, Aam Janata Party and two independent MPs remained absent during the voting. Now after this, the President is preparing to form a new government. For this, the President has called constitutional experts for discussion in Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to the Constitution of Nepal, there is a provision to invite the leader of the parliamentary party of the largest party to become the Prime Minister after the failure of the coalition government.
