New Delhi, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to tribal leader Kartik Oraon on his birth centenary. Modi described Oraon as a great leader who dedicated his entire life to the rights and self-respect of the tribal community and was a vocal spokesperson of the tribal society to protect the tribal culture and identity.
Prime Minister Modi wrote in a post on Instagram, “Respectful tribute to Kartik Oraon, the country's great leader who was dedicated throughout his life to the rights and self-respect of the tribal community, on his birth centenary. He was a vocal spokesperson of the tribal society, who continuously struggled to protect tribal culture and identity. His incomparable contribution towards the welfare of the underprivileged will always inspire the countrymen.”
It is noteworthy that Karthik Oraon was born on 29 October 1924 in Karonda Litatoli village of Gumla district of the then Bihar. Congress leader Kartik Oraon was a member of the Lok Sabha thrice and the Legislative Assembly once. He died on 8 December 1981.
