Kathmandu, 9 November (HS). Nepal's ruling CPN (UML) met on Saturday and discussed in detail Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's proposed visit to China. In the meeting, the party president and Prime Minister Oli himself had a detailed discussion with party officials about his proposed visit to China. Oli's visit to China is proposed in the first week of December.
Party spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali said in the press conference after the meeting that this time Prime Minister Oli's visit to China is just a formality. During this visit, old agreements with China will be reviewed. There will also be talks on the implementation of the old agreements reached so far.
Gyawali did not respond to a question regarding the signing of the BRI implementation agreement. He only said that this time his visit to China is going to be limited to formalities only. This visit of the Prime Minister will be for only three days. During this, Oli will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and will return after the bilateral meeting.
Spokesperson Gyawali said that the world order is changing, hence Nepal is very cautious about its foreign policy. This being the Prime Minister's first formal foreign visit to China does not mean much inclination towards China. Gyawali claimed that Nepal follows the policy of maintaining balanced and equal relations with its two neighboring countries, India and China.
