Gandhiji was a great global leader and he did not get the respect he deserved in the world. He said this in a TV interview during the Lok Sabha elections. He said that it was the responsibility of our political leaders to tell the whole world about a great leader like Gandhiji, but this work was done by a film director.
PM Modi wanted to say here that look at our plight after independence, the world recognized the great leader of India after a film, while our leaders failed to do so. He said that after watching this film the whole world came to know about Mahatma Gandhi and his principles.
He stressed that if Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela were such famous personalities across the world, India would have done well, Gandhi would be very popular across the world today.
He also claimed that Mahatma Gandhi had the solution to many of India's problems. On this occasion, he reminded that the Sabarmati Ashram redevelopment project was announced in March 2024 on the anniversary of the Dandi March.
He emphasized that during the last ten years as the Prime Minister of India, he called Dr. BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, a temple has been built.
