Prime Minister Modi will meet Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina today

New Delhi, June 22 (HS). Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived in Delhi on a two-day visit to India, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. During this meeting, the leaders of the two countries are likely to discuss rail, energy, connectivity, business and the master plan for sharing the Teesta water.

Sheikh Hasina is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today. Earlier, Sheikh Hasina arrived in Delhi on Friday on her two-day visit. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the Prime Minister of Bangladesh last evening.

This is the first bilateral state visit by a foreign leader after the formation of the new government. This is Sheikh Hasina's second visit to India within 15 days. Earlier, Hasina had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi on 9 June.

Prime Minister Modi has always given special importance to relations with Bangladesh under the Neighbour First policy. During the G-20 summit last year, Prime Minister Modi had invited Bangladesh as a guest. The special thing is that Bangladesh was the only South Asian country among the 9 countries invited as guests in the G-20 summit.

Bangladesh is also very important for India strategically. After the India visit, Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit China. In view of this, the meaning of her India visit is being interpreted. Bangladesh is also a big trade partner of India in South Asia.
