New Delhi, March 14 (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the beneficiaries of 'PM Swanidhi Yojana' in the national capital Delhi today (Thursday) at 5 pm. He will also lay the foundation stone of two additional corridors of Phase IV of Delhi Metro. The program will be organized at Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Stadium. This information has been shared by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in a release and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its X handle on the eve of the event.
The Press Information Bureau release said that on this occasion, the Prime Minister will also distribute loans under the scheme to one lakh street vendors, including 5,000 street vendors (SVs) of Delhi. Inspired by the Prime Minister's vision to provide financial assistance to the marginalized sections of the society during the deepening global economic crisis due to the Corona epidemic, the 'PM Swanidhi' scheme was launched on June 1, 2020. This has proven to be transformative for the communities of street vendors. So far, more than 82 lakh loans amounting to more than Rs 10,978 crore have been disbursed to more than 62 lakh street vendors across the country. Nearly two lakh loans amounting to Rs 232 crore have been disbursed in Delhi alone.
According to PIB, during the event the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of two additional corridors of Delhi Metro (Lajpat Nagar-Saket-G Block and Indralok-Indraprastha). Both the corridors will be more than 20 kilometers long in total and will go a long way in enhancing connectivity and further reducing traffic congestion.
Lajpat Nagar-Saket G-Block corridor will include these stations – Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, Saket G-Block. Various stations on the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will include Indralok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, Delhi Secretariat and Indraprastha.
