New Delhi, 24 February (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the pilot project of the grain storage scheme today (Saturday). This is the biggest initiative of Prime Minister Modi so far towards strengthening the cooperative sector of the country. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of some other projects.
According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony will begin at 10:30 am at Bharat Mandapam located at Pragati Maidan in the national capital. Here Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the pilot project of 'the world's largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector'. It will be operated in 11 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) of 11 states.
According to the PMO, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of additional 500 PACS across the country for the creation of other agriculture related infrastructure under this initiative. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the computerization project for 18,000 PACS across the country. This project is in line with the Government's Co-operative Prosperity Vision. Its objective is to empower small and marginal farmers along with providing new energy to the cooperative sector. This important project has been approved with a financial outlay of more than Rs 2,500 crore.
