The 'New Kashmir' after Article 370 has rejoiced in the great festival of democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed happiness over the voting figures for the fifth phase of Baramulla Lok Sabha seat here and congratulated the people of the area.
This time 59 percent voting took place in Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. This is the highest since 1984. It is noteworthy that for some decades less than 10 percent voting has been taking place in Baramulla. Prime Minister Modi thanked the people of Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency for the highest ever turnout. Prime Minister Modi said that this is a great trend. He wrote on his X handle, “Congratulations to my sisters and brothers of Baramulla for their unwavering commitment to democratic values. Such active participation is a great trend.” Prime Minister Modi wrote this while reposting the post of Jammu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha.
Governor Manoj Sinha wrote, “More than 58 percent voting is very encouraging and shows the determination and unwavering faith of the people in democracy. I congratulate and thank the people of Baramulla for participating in large numbers in the Mahakumbh of Democracy.” Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also thanked the voters of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “A large number of people are coming forward for democratic governance in the UT (Union Territory). This has encouraged holding of assembly elections in the UT at the earliest.” It is noteworthy that the highest 72 percent voting was recorded in Handwara assembly constituency. It is noteworthy that Baramulla has been affected by terrorism for a long time. The situation has changed rapidly after the removal of Article 370.
