Varanasi, June 18 (HS). After coming to power for the third consecutive time in the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening came to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on a gratitude tour. After interacting with more than 50,000 farmers in Mehndiganj, the Prime Minister directly reached the banks of Mother Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Before participating in the world famous Ganga Aarti of Ganga Seva Nidhi at the ghat decorated with flowers like a bride, the Prime Minister sipped water from Mother Ganga amidst chanting of Vedic mantras from the jetty built on the ghat. After worshipping Mother Ganga as per the rituals, he performed her Aarti and gave a big message of water conservation to the entire country. After this, the Prime Minister participated in the Ganga Aarti of Ganga Seva Nidhi.

The Prime Minister, who participated in Ganga Aarti for the fifth time amidst the tune of Damru and bells, showed immense devotion towards Maa Ganga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was delighted to see nine priests in traditional attire performing Maa Ganga Aarti amidst special Maha Aarti of Maa Ganga, rhythmic Bhajan singing and 18 girls waving chawan to Maa in the form of Riddhi-Siddhi. The special thing was that the Prime Minister was also seen humming the Bhajans of Maa Ganga. For about 55 minutes, the Prime Minister kept listening to the special Aarti along with the Ganga Strotra and the spectacular song of Shiv Tandava on the ghat with folded hands. During this time, the natural beauty of spirituality was worth seeing on the ghat. State Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also sat with Prime Minister Modi on the chairs placed on the ghats decorated like a bride with floral garlands. Ganga Aarti was performed under the supervision of astrologer Pt. Chandramouli Upadhyay.

Earlier, as soon as Prime Minister Modi reached the Ghat, thousands of devotees already present there welcomed him with the traditional loud slogan of Har Har Mahadev. The Prime Minister also greeted the people with folded hands. The Prime Minister seemed overwhelmed seeing the love of the people for him. Extensive security arrangements were made during this time at the Ghat, which was glowing with floral decorations, red carpet and morning-like lights even in the darkness of the night. During this time, the Ganga Ghat appeared glittering like the Diwali festival. The Ghat was decorated with garlands of more than 10 quintals of flowers like sunflower, tuberose, jasmine and marigold.
