Prime Minister Modi arrived in Italy to attend the G-7 summit on the special invitation of the Prime Minister of Italy

Rome, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the resort of Fessano in the Apulia region on Thursday night (local time) to attend the G-7 summit on the special invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Where he was welcomed by blowing the bugle as per the Roman-Empire tradition of past years. At that time, the citizens of Indian origin present there also greeted him. At that time, officers of all three armies of Italy were also present.

This is Modi's first foreign visit after assuming the post of Prime Minister for the third consecutive time.

The main issues on the agenda of this summit will be the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Hamas war and China. It is worth noting that neither China nor Pakistan has been invited to this conference.

Georgia Maloney invited Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia and Turkey to attend the conference, as well as India to attend another meeting after the conference. But how special India's place is in that survey is confirmed by Ms. Maloney's welcome to everyone.

The conference is scheduled to last for two days starting on Friday. Issues related to AI, energy, Mediterranean Africa and China are also to be discussed.

Pope His Holiness Francis, who rarely attends international conferences, will also participate.

The G-7 Summit will be held under India's Presidency to harmonise with the discussions and conclusions of the G-20 Summit, particularly on the Global South.

Naturally, Modi will hold bilateral talks with Maloney. It is worth noting that the Italian Prime Minister has visited India twice before. He has personal respect and admiration for Modi and also dislike for India and Indian culture.

During this conference, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Zelensky. He will have only formal talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Addressing reporters before leaving for Italy on Thursday night, the Prime Minister said, “In this summit, I am going to put forward my opinion on how the lives of all people living on our planet can be improved. I am also going to discuss with the Prime Minister of Italy how to develop India-Italy strategic partnership and cooperation. Apart from this, I will also discuss the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean region (Israel-Hamas war). It was also decided in this conference to sell Russian assets and give $ 50 billion to Ukraine.

After this conference, Modi is going to leave for India. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kawatra said that Ukraine will not be able to attend the peace conference to be held in Bergesstock, Switzerland during June 15-16.

Experts believe that S Shivshankar will represent India extensively in that conference.
