Prime Minister gifts development projects worth Rs 4800 crore to Gujarat

Amreli, 28 October (Hindustan Reporter). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday performed Bhoomi Pujan and inaugurated development projects worth about Rs 4800 crore for Gujarat's Amreli and Saurashtra through digital medium. Modi inaugurated Bharat Mata Sarovar at Dudhala in Amreli. The project has been developed in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Dholakia Foundation under the Public-Private Partnership model. These projects will benefit the citizens of Amreli, Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kutch and Botad districts of the state.

The Prime Minister gave this gift to Saurashtra-Amreli during a public program organized in Lathi, Amreli. The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various road projects costing more than Rs 2,800 crore.

The projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister include four-laning of various sections of NH 151, NH 151A and NH 51 and Junagadh Bypass. The foundation stone of the four-laning project for the remaining section from Dhrol Bypass in Jamnagar district to Amran in Morbi district was also laid. The Bhuj-Naliya Railway Gauge Conversion Project costing about Rs 1,100 crore was also dedicated to the nation. This massive project comprises of 24 major bridges, 254 minor bridges, 3 road overbridges and 30 road underbridges and will play a vital role in furthering the socio-economic development of Kutch district.

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects of the Water Supply Department of Amreli district costing more than Rs 700 crore. The projects inaugurated include Nawada to Chavand bulk pipeline which will provide additional 28 crore liters of water to about 67 lakh beneficiaries in 36 towns and 1,298 villages of Botad, Amreli, Junagadh, Rajkot and Porbandar districts. The foundation stone of the second phase of Enhanced Water Supply Scheme of Pasvi Group in Bhavnagar district was also laid, which will benefit 95 villages of Mahuva, Talaja and Palitana talukas of Bhavnagar district. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for various tourism-related development initiatives, including the transformation of the Karli Recharge Reservoir at Mokarsagar in Porbandar district into a world-class sustainable eco-tourism destination.

Apart from this, Modi inaugurated the upgradation work of a check dam of Dholakia Foundation. Originally this dam could hold 45 million liters of water but after deepening, widening and strengthening its capacity has increased to 245 million litres. This upgradation has increased the water level of nearby wells which will help in providing better irrigation facilities to local villages and farmers.
