Mumbai – Onion prices have remained high for the last few months. Onion prices, which had reached Rs 70 in the wholesale market, are now decreasing slightly. Earlier the price of old onion in the wholesale market was Rs 50 to 60 per kg. But now only a few old onions are left and due to the arrival of new onions, the price of new onions has reduced by Rs 10 to 15. As the income of green vegetables has increased, the price of green vegetables has also declined. But the prices of vegetables like cucumber and bitter gourd have almost doubled.
New onion is being sold at Rs 20-30 per kg in Navi Mumbai APMC. Which was available at Rs 50-55 per kg till a few days ago. Onion season in APMC market is summer and monsoon. New onion of monsoon season arrives in November. But this year, due to late rains, onion production came back on track. Therefore, the income from new onions increased and the price of old onions increased. In such a situation, the price of onion was continuously increasing.
On Thursday, 2950 tonnes of green vegetables arrived in the market in 632 vehicles. Out of which 6.92 lakh bunches were of leafy vegetables. In the wholesale market, 2.33 lakh bunches of spinach and 2.12 lakh bunches of coriander are being sold, in APMC, coriander, fenugreek are being sold at Rs 6 to 8 and spinach at Rs 5 to 8 per kg. The prices of leafy vegetables have reduced. The price of cucumber has increased from Rs 20-26 per kg to Rs 46-60 per kg, bitter gourd price has increased from Rs 28-34 per kg to Rs 40-48 per kg, tindola from Rs 20-34 per kg. It has increased to Rs 30-60 per kg. Prices of tomatoes and peas were seen stable in the market.
