President Murmu honored with Padma Award, honored with Venkaiah Naidu and Mithun Chakraborty

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Founder of Sulabh International Shri. Bindeshwar Pathak and famous Bharatnatyam dancer Padma Subramaniam were honored with the Padma Vibhushan award by President Draupadi Murmu. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, former Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik and industrialist Sitaram Jindal were awarded the Padma Bhushan.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other dignitaries were present at the Padma awards ceremony. Padma Award is one of the country's highest civilian honours, given to people who have performed well in various fields such as arts, social work, public service, science, literature and sports. Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and special service, Padma Bhushan for service of high order and Padma Shri for service in any field.

It was announced that this year a total of 132 personalities will be honored with the Padma Award. These include 5 Padma Vibhushan, 15 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri awardees. This time, there were 30 women among those who received Padma awards, while 9 people were honored with Padma awards posthumously.
