President inaugurates Brahma Kumari's Divine Retreat Centre in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, July 08 (HS). President Draupadi Murmu on Monday inaugurated the Brahma Kumari's Divya Retreat Center at Haridmada village near Bhubaneswar. She also launched the Brahma Kumaris' national campaign 'Lifestyle for Sustainability'.
On this occasion, the President said that there is a lot in nature. Forests, mountains, rivers, lakes, seas, rain, air, all these are essential for the life of living beings. But man should remember that the abundance in nature is for his needs, not for his greed. Man is exploiting nature for his pleasure and luxury and by doing so is becoming a victim of nature's wrath. He said that establishing harmony with nature and living a life in harmony with nature is the need of the hour.

The President said that Indian culture has always emphasized on a lifestyle in harmony with nature. In our philosophy, the earth has been called mother and the sky has been called father. The river has also been given the title of mother. Water has been called life. We worship the rain as Lord Indra and the sea as Lord Varuna. In our stories, mountains and trees move and animals also talk to each other. This means that nature is not inert, it also has the power of consciousness within it. All these are beautiful thoughts of Indian philosophers for the conservation of nature.

The President said that climate change, global warming and uncertainty of weather are the major challenges facing the world today. Natural disasters like floods, landslides, avalanches, earthquakes, forest fires and tsunamis are no longer occasional occurrences. They have now become frequent events.

The President said that small changes in our daily lives pave the way for big changes in society. We have to change our habits so that natural resources are used as little as possible. Many times drinking water is wasted due to taps being left open. Lights are kept on even during the day. Similarly, whether it is home or office, we do not pay attention to switching off fans or lights. We have not been able to free ourselves from the habit of leaving some food on the plate. He emphasized that just discussing a nature-friendly lifestyle is not enough, we have to make it a part of our daily lives. He urged everyone to make it a habit to save natural resources.

The President praised all those involved in the national campaign 'Lifestyle for Sustainability'. He said that this is a commendable step towards connecting people with nature. He said that this campaign should not be limited to meetings, committees or conferences. He urged all those involved in the campaign to go to different parts of the country and make people, especially rural people, aware about the environment.
