Supreme Court gets 2 new judges: President Draupadi Murmu has approved the appointment of two new judges in the Supreme Court. The appointment of Justice N Kotishwar Singh and Justice R Mahadevan has been approved in the Supreme Court. After this appointment, Justice Singh will be the first Supreme Court judge from Manipur.
The Collegium recommended
In fact, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended to the Central Government to appoint Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court (High Court) Justice N Kotishwar Singh and Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court Justice R. Mahadevan as judges of the Supreme Court.
A total of 34 posts of judges have been approved in the Supreme Court
The collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had recommended the names of both on July 11. It is worth noting that the posts of 34 judges including the Chief Justice of India were approved in the Supreme Court. Currently there are 32 judges in the Supreme Court.
