On the 19th foundation day of Uttarakhand State Women's Commission, Chairperson of the Commission, Kusum Kandwal said that the objective of the Commission is to make women aware, empowered and self-reliant. He gave detailed information about the work of the commission. Also made the residents and parents of the state aware of their responsibilities.
Speaking to the media on Monday at the media center located at the Secretariat, State Women Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will soon announce the women policy prepared by the State Women Commission in 2019 for the women of Uttarakhand. The State Women's Commission is working like a guardian for economically weaker women. Women's safety is the priority of the Commission. He said that awareness is important to stop crimes against women. In such a situation, parents should fulfill their responsibilities and take care of the safety of their sisters and daughters and make them aware.
Female prisoner will choose a new path of life by becoming self-reliant
Enumerating his plans, Kandwal said that he inquired about the condition of women prisoners in all the jails in the state and took stock of the facilities provided by the government. When women come out of jail, they should join the mainstream of society and choose a new path of life. For this, women prisoners are being trained so that they become financially strong and self-reliant and they do not have to lend their hands to anyone.
Benefits of government schemes are being extended to women
Kandwal said that counseling of women has been done in one stop center in the state. Women Help Desk and Women Helpline are inspected from time to time in every police station area. Over the years, women's schemes are being continuously reviewed at the district level and the benefits of government schemes are being extended to women.
Girls students are being made aware about women safety at school level.
He told that every department should have a Sexual Harassment Committee, where four or more women are working. Such guidelines have been given. By organizing events from time to time at the school level, the students are being made aware of women's safety and information about the commission is being given.
SOP issued for spa centers
He told that raids are conducted in spa centers every day. The Commission has prepared SOP for spa centers and sent it to the government. According to SOP, girls below 18 years of age should not be appointed in spa centres. Be it a massage parlor or a therapy center, it should have separate rooms for men and women. Every massage therapy or spa centers should be verified with the local police station. Every massage trainer must be trained.
