The aim of opening the religious corridor is to enable Hindus and Jains to visit their historical religious sites in Pakistan. Sindh Tourism Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah made the proposal while addressing an event to promote tourism in Sindh province in Dubai.

A corridor can be built here

Most of Pakistan's Hindu population lives in Sindh province. Shah said the corridor could be built in Umarkot and Nagarparkar. Umarkot is home to the Shri Shiv Mandir, believed to be one of the oldest Hindu temples in Sindh. Some believe it was built over 2,000 years ago. Nagarparkar is home to a large number of Hindus.

A Sindh government spokesman said Tourism Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah has discussed the construction of the corridor with officials of his department but nothing has been decided on the matter yet, it is a matter of the federal government. Shah also proposed starting weekly flights from India to Sukkur or Larkana for the convenience of religious tourists.
