Preparations for first phase of voting completed in Assam

Guwahati, 17 April (HS). Preparations for the first phase of voting in Assam have been completed. In the first phase, voting will be held on April 19 for five Lok Sabha seats out of total 14 seats in the state. These include Jorhat, Kaziranga, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Lakhimpur seats.

In the first phase, while five candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party are in the fray, three candidates of Congress, two of Aam Aadmi Party, one candidate each of Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Gana Parishad are in the fray. Along with this, three independent candidates are also contesting in this election.

Out of these total 35 candidates, 15 candidates are crorepatis. In which independent candidate Dilwara Begum Choudhary from Kaziranga seat is the richest candidate.

Here, the formalities related to voting have been completed by the Election Commission. Arrangements have been made to send EVM machines to far-flung areas.

Due to the end of the election campaign, today all the political parties deployed their forces. In Assam, many senior leaders from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and other parties campaigned vigorously. The hustle and bustle of elections was seen everywhere throughout the day.
