Preparation for bumper recruitment on 81,000 posts in UP Police! Notifications will be issued in several phases, know the eligibility and selection process



Big news has come for lakhs of youth in Uttar Pradesh who are dreaming of wearing khaki uniform and becoming a part of the police force. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a mega recruitment drive will be conducted on more than 81,000 vacant posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police Department during the financial year 2026-27. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) will issue notifications for these posts in a phase-wise manner in different categories. The main objective of this recruitment drive is to further strengthen the law and order of the state and to provide employment to the youth in a transparent manner. On which posts will there be recruitment? Under more than 81,000 posts, appointments will be made in various cadres of the police department: Constable (Constable – Civilian Police and PAC): Maximum posts will be filled in the constable cadre. Sub-Inspector (SI/Daroga): For Police Sub-Inspector and Confidential/Clerical posts. Technical and Radio Cadre: Radio Assistant Operator and Computer Operator Grade-A. Other Posts: Vacancies under Jail Warder and Fireman Service. Main Eligibility and Qualification Criteria Educational Qualification: Constable/Fireman: Must have passed 12th (Intermediate) from a recognized board. Sub-Inspector (SI): Graduation degree from any recognized university. Computer Operator/Technical Posts: 12th (Physics/Maths) with ‘O’ Level Computer Certificate from DOEACC/NIELIT or equivalent qualification. Age Limit: For the post of Constable, 18 to 22/23 years for general category and 21 to 28 years for Sub-Inspector (Reserved categories will get relaxation in upper age limit as per state government rules). 4 Main Stages of Selection Process Written Examination (CBT / OMR): Objective type examination in which questions will be asked from General Knowledge, General Hindi, Numerical and Mental Ability and Reasoning. For the post of SI, questions related to law and constitution will also be included. Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates’ height, chest (for men only) and weight will be measured. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running test will be conducted (4.8 km run for men and 2.4 km run for women). Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination: In the final stage, the final selection list will be released after document verification and medical test.
