Mahasamund 18 November (Hindu). The objective of the schemes of Chhattisgarh and Central Government is to make people not employment seekers but employment providers. Premnarayan Sahu, resident of Mahasamund block, has fulfilled this objective by taking the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Srijan Yojana. Today, with the help of government scheme, he is running ‘Prem Amrittulya’ tea shop successfully.

Premnarayan Sahu told that he has studied till graduation. During his college studies, he came to know about the Amrit Tullya Tea franchise in the capital Raipur. After this he decided to start it in his city Mahasamund. Being interested in tea business, he took formal training in making tea through ‘Arogya Amrittulya’. But due to lack of funds to open the shop, they were not able to do this work with confidence. His friend informed him about the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program run by Chhattisgarh Khadi Village Industries Department, he went to the Khadi Village Industries Department and got information about this scheme and submitted the loan application to the department along with the necessary documents. Seeing his interest, the bank sanctioned him a loan of Rs 3,50,000.

Premnarayan says that after getting the loan, he started ‘Prem Amrittulya’ tea shop on BTI Road. Due to his hard work the tea shop is running well. Now he is earning an income of around Rs 30,000 a month, which not only fulfills the needs of his family but also repays the bank loan regularly.

Premnarayan told that he along with his brother has started from scratch, when Amrittulya was started two years ago, only one colleague used to work with him. Now they feel extremely happy that they are providing employment to a total of 3 people, including their father who earlier worked as an electrician. He has also left that job and now works as an assistant in the shop. Earlier the shop started by selling only tea but now for the summer season, it also offers soda and restaurant-style snacks. He says that there was no such place in Mahasamund where young women could sit comfortably and enjoy tea. Amrit Tulya Tea Shop filled this gap.

Premnarayan had to face criticism in the initial days. Some people used to make fun of his decision to sell tea despite his education. But he ignored the criticism and continued his work. He credits his success to the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program and expresses his gratitude to the Government and the Khadi Village Industries Department, with whose support he got the opportunity to establish his business. Inspired by this scheme, many youth like him can dream of becoming self-reliant and making the future of their family bright.
