Srimad Bhagwat Geeta, the most sacred text of Sanatan culture and Hindu religion, contains solutions to every aspect and problem of life. Lord Shri Krishna, in his teachings to Arjuna, has mentioned many such emotions, controlling which is very important for a successful and happy life. ‘Anger’ is considered to be the most dangerous and destructive emotion among these disorders. Shri Krishna has clearly said in Geeta that anger is not just a normal impulse, but it is the biggest and deadliest enemy of man. When a person’s mind burns in the fire of anger, his ability to think and understand is completely destroyed and he forgets the difference between right and wrong and takes wrong decisions.
Anger is the main reason for distance and mental disturbance in relationships.
According to Shri Krishna, anger has a deep and negative impact not only on our mental health but also on our relationships and interactions. Often, anger or unnecessary reaction over small things creates deep distance between loved ones for life. In a fit of anger, a person often says such things or takes such steps, which cannot be changed later even if one wants to. As a result, strong relationships built over years get broken in a moment. Apart from this, being continuously angry robs a person of his mental peace and he falls prey to stress and depression.
Examples of Mahabharata and ill effects of anger
Even in the context of Mahabharata, there are many clear examples of how excessive anger led to the destruction of great empires and dynasties. In the battlefield, when Arjuna was in doubt after seeing his own family members in front of him and was feeling angry along with attachment, then Lord Shri Krishna taught him the lesson of self-control. Duryodhana’s arrogance and his uncontrolled anger in the Kaurava clan became the main reason for the entire Mahabharata war and their destruction. These historical examples teach us that every decision taken in anger is harmful, hence every person should try to overcome anger in his life.
