Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa created history by defeating world champion Magnus Carlsen in classical chess. 18-year-old Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen on his home ground in the ongoing Norway Chess Tournament in Stavanger, Norway. The Indian, playing for White Mohrand, defeated last year's FIDE World Cup winner to take the sole lead in the Open category. Classical chess is known as a slow game and it gives the player enough time to move. It is usually played for an hour. The last three games between Carlsen and Praggnanandhaa were drawn. His sister Vaishali also topped the women's category. She has 5.5 points. Hikaru Nakamura of America won the Armageddon (sudden death) game as his game against Alireza Firouzja of France was drawn and he gained one and a half points. Nakamura is in third place and will face Praggnanandhaa in the fourth round.
